ADMINISTRATION
FINANCIAL
SECRETARY
The financial secretary oversees the
collection, recording and deposit of contributions into the church’s
bank account. The secretary forwards this information to the church
treasurer and periodically issues financial statements to those who have
given financial gifts to the church.
HISTORIAN
The church historian collects current and
historic information about the church and maintains the data in an
organized manner.
LAY LEADER
The lay leader is the primary lay
representative of the laity of the church. The lay leader meets
regularly with the pastor to discuss the state of the church and the
needs for ministry.
TELLERS
There are up to ten tellers who rotate on a
weekly basis to count the contributions from the congregation and
others. They document their counts and turn the information over to the
financial secretary.
CHURCH TREASURER
The church treasurer shall disburse
all money contributed to causes represented in the local church budget,
and such other funds and contributions as the church council may
determine. The treasurer shall make regular and detailed reports to the
committee on finance and the church council.
BOARD OF
TRUSTEES
There is a board of trustees consisting of
not fewer than three nor more than nine persons, and it is recommended
that one third be laywomen and that at least be laymen. The trustees
shall be of legal age as determined by law, and at least two thirds
shall be members of The United Methodist Church. The members are divided
into three classes, and each class shall as nearly as possible consist
of an equal number of members. The trustees hold title to and manage the
property belonging to the church.
COMMITTEES
The normal
committee makeup is nine members. There are three members in three
classes, with each class serving for a three year period. Minutes of the
meetings are maintained and available to all.
COMMUNICATIONS

One of the most important things that all of us do
on a daily basis is to communicate with others. Using all the tools that
are available to us including the verbal word, posters, the news media
i.e.: newspapers, television and computers will be used to get the word
of God out to our congregation, the neighborhood and the world.
EDUCATION

McClave, Chair
This committee provides the oversight of the total
educational program of the church. It recommends activities for the
study and interpretation of the Christian faith for every age group.
EVANGELISM Nick
Connavino, Chair
If you have an interest in planning ways to reach
out sharing your faith with the unchurched in the community and to the
membership, this committee is for you.
FINANCE/STEWARDSHIP
Chuck Pereksta, Chair
The overall financial well being of the church is
reviewed and directed by this committee. It sets the financial goals,
compiles an annual budget, plans ways to raise and administer funds and
provides audits.
MEMORIALS
The members consult with those responsible for
existing memorial funds as to their use.
MISSION Melissa
Patterson, Chair
The purpose is to provide ministry locally and
throughout the world to whose needs cannot be fully met with the
existing resources available to them.
SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarships that are available are administered by
this committee. They review the candidates applying for educational
financial aid and award the scholarship.
STAFF PARISH
Rosemarie Wright, Chair
The administrative unit of the church whose primary
responsibility is to work with the staff so that the mission of the
church is realized. (Note: the minutes of this committee are
confidential and not available.)
TECHNOLOGY
Bob Prizzi, Chair
They are responsible for developing, recommending
and maintaining software and hardware. They provide support for audio
visual enrichment to worship services and other events
WILLS & LEGACIES
They welcome the opportunity to supply you with
information about a variety of methods of giving and discussing with you
and your advisers how you might consider making the gift.
WORSHIP Ginny
Petrie, Chair
Making the worship service a meaningful and vital
part of the Christian Life is the goal of this committee. They work
closely with the minister and other members of the staff.

ORGANIZATIONS
ALTAR GUILD
If you are interested in flowers and flower
arranging, than the Altar Guild needs you!! This group prepares
the Altar each Sunday and decorates the church for the various holidays
throughout the year. It’s purpose is to enhance the beauty of our church
sanctuary.
Stephen Ministry
This is a ministry of trained and supervised lay
persons who provide one-to-one Christian care to individuals facing life
challenges or difficulties.
Youth Ministry
The ministry to our youth is very rewarding
experience for adults to interact with the youth in planning,
coordinating, and chaperoning their various activities.
SMALL
GROUPS
Fellowship
opportunities to build cohesiveness, strengthen relationships, grow
spiritually and reach out to others.
Questers
A Saturday evening fellowship group involved in
meaningful study programs, fun social activities and fund raisers that
expands the horizons of East Shore Church. Come join us!!
United Methodist
Men
A group of men who seek to know Christ, to grow
spiritually and to seek daily hi swill. They enjoy a breakfast meeting
once a month. Their program consists of a yearly golf outing, painting
and clean up projects around the church building, assisting the United
Methodist Women’s group and various educational trips.
United Methodist
Women
A community of women whose purpose is to know God.
They consists of various circle groups that meet during the day or in
the evening, and are involved in meaningful study programs, fun social
activities and fund raisers.
United Methodist
Youth Fellowship Group
This group meets on Sunday evenings to plan various
activities such as, bible studies, attending retreats, and programs with
other youth groups, fund raisers, all of which encourages development of
their spiritual background.
Women’s Prayer
Group
Women meet on Sat. mornings once a month to share
praise, thanksgiving and words of encouragement for themselves and
others. An uplifting experience shared by all. Come celebrate with
us!!
SUNDAY
MORNING
Listed are areas
where you can volunteer to be active during the worship service on
Sunday Morning. Some of these are on an every Sunday basis while others
are just for an individual Sunday*
ACOLYTES and
LEADERS
Youth begin and end the service by lighting and
extinguishing the appropriate candles for the morning service.
Coordinating the group of youth to be available and on time for their
duties requires adult supervision.
CHURCH SCHOOL
Those who wish to realize the rewards of shaping
young minds and bringing children into a deeper relationship with Christ
are always welcome to become or assist teachers.
CLERICAL SUPPORT
Attend to office needs during the worship hour.
Answer the telephone; assist those who wish to check the church calendar
and other miscellaneous duties.
COMMUNION
STEWARTS
Communion is offered the first Sunday of each
month. The Stewart/Stewarts provide the bread and grape juice and fill
the plates with bread and the glasses with the juice. The elements are
placed in the holders provided in the communion rail the first pew.
After the service is over the Stewart/Stewarts clean up and dispose of
the disposable containers.
GREETERS
These individuals are the first person members the
congregation and visitors meet when they come into the house of God at
East Shore Church. They provide a warm and friendly welcome and direct
those who need help to reach their areas of interest.
HOSPITALITY
Every Sunday prior to the service breakfast is
offered to all. This provides a common event for members to meet in a
casual and friendly atmosphere.
There is a sign up sheet for those who enjoy
providing the morning food.
USHERS
At all services, ushers welcome visitors and
members, pass out the morning bulletin, take up the collection and guide
people during communion. One of the ushers is responsible to collect the
attendance pads. A count of the number of those worshiping at the
service is made by the ushers and recorded for submission to the office.
Typically four (4) ushers are required each Sunday and six (6) ushers
required the first Sunday of the month for the communion service.
MUSIC

BELL CHOIR
The East Shore UMC Bell Choir was formed in March
1976 and has continued to practice and perform continuously throughout
30 plus years. We own five octaves of Shulmerich Bells and 4 octaves of
Malmark Bell Bars. Weekly rehearsals are held on Sunday mornings from
9:00 to 10:15 AM. The group participates/performs in at least one Sunday
service per month. About twice a year the group has been privileged to
travel to local churches to share our music message.
CHANCEL CHOIR
A wide variety of music from classical to
contemporary music in blended harmony is performed by this group.
ENSEMBLES
Various ensembles make presentations of
inspirational music including spirituals, contemporary gospel and
everything in between.
CHILDREN’S CHOIR
Young voices praising God and bringing joy (and
smiles).
